Galliani, Berlusconi Weigh In on Potential Zlatan Move

Sunday, Aug. 30

“That chapter is closed, he will stay in Paris," Galliani told Mediaset Premium, according to Sam Lee of Goal.com.

"Ibrahimovic? It's difficult for him to stay in France, because of his words that drew a negative reaction from the French public," Berlusconi told Sky on Aug. 18 (h/t Football Italia). "If PSG end it with Zlatan, we have his word that then there would only be us," he added.

Galliani originally suggested Milan's chances of landing the player were "minimal" on Aug. 5, saying Zlatan is "almost certain to stay in Paris," per Sportmediaset (h/t Ben Gladwell of ESPN FC).

However, Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail reported on Aug. 17 that Ibrahimovic is available for a "cut-price fee."

Ibrahimovic Hints at Surprise Transfer, Expects 1 More Year at PSG Despite Madrid Link

Thursday, July 30

"Where I go next, it will be a surprise, a very big surprise," said Ibrahimovic, per the Press Association (via the Guardian). The 33-year-old striker added:

"

I’m very happy at PSG. You don’t see that on the field? I have another year on my contract with PSG and I am very happy. Things are getting better. We are a strong team, we can do much more than we have been doing so at the moment but I am very happy.

"

Jordi Blanco of Sport suggested on July 7 Real Madrid may well prove to be that surprise next move for the veteran, although such a transfer is yet to shows signs of materialising.

Zlatan Rejects United Due to Van Gaal Presence

Friday, July 24

"He was a director in Ajax, and the way he is working is not the way I work," Ibrahimovic said of United manager Louis van Gaal to Maggie Gray on SI Now, adding his relationship with the Dutchman is "not good."

According to Sportmediaset (h/t Will Giles of Metro) on July 23, Ibrahimovic turned down a three-year contract worth £7 million from United, who desperately need to sign additional attacking talent to relieve pressure from Wayne Rooney.

Ibrahimovic is the symbolic figure of PSG's transitional phase, the icon who highlights the club's increased wealth after Qatar Sports Investments injected its cash.

Despite an injury-plagued 2014-15 season, Ibrahimovic still managed 29 strikes across the domestic run and Champions League competitions for PSG.

He is one of the game's great characters—a loveable combination of cocky and brilliant—ensuring his transfer would rank among the summer's biggest.
