Chelsea Transfer News: Raphael Varane Stuns Real Madrid, Latest Oscar Rumours
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has seen his hopes of re-signing Raphael Varane boosted after it came to light Real Madrid are willing to sell the defender, but Juventus are ramping up their interest in Oscar.
It was Mourinho who brought Varane to the Bernabeu from French outfit Lens in 2011, with the Daily Star's Marc Williams reporting his search for first-team football could lead him away from Los Blancos this summer.

Despite being regarded as one of Europe's most promising centre-backs, Varane struggled to hold down a starting place for periods of his tenure under Carlo Ancelotti as Pepe and Sergio Ramos were preferred.
And as Mark Worrall writes for ESPN FC, it's a pressing concern for Mourinho to unearth the successor to club stalwart John Terry:
The 34-year-old veteran penned another one-year extension at Stamford Bridge in March, but with next summer's deadline comes more questions as to whether this will be Terry's last campaign.
After playing every second of the club's triumphant 2014-15 Premier League season, however, Terry may yet have the stamina for another campaign, but Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson recently argued whether Atletico Madrid's Miranda could challenge for his throne:
The Blues already have a young and promising France international centre-back among their ranks in Kurt Zouma, the former Saint-Etienne bruiser inspiring some excitement from those in west London.
Chelsea could need a back-up option, too, after the Guardian's Ed Aarons cited Spanish newspaper AS when reporting Manchester United also hold an interest in Varane:
Williams alleges Varane as being available for £22 million if Real do decide to let him leave the club, a potential bargain considering he's already an established international only held back by the pedigree of those in front.
Mourinho experienced the prodigious defender's talent first-hand during his time in charge of Los Merengues and his hopes for a reunion could be well-served if La Liga's titans decide to cash in.
Juventus Paint Oscar As Their Man

Serie A champions Juventus have been touted as holding serious interest in Chelsea's Oscar for some months now, and it appears the Italians are ready to start putting pressure on the Blues for a sale.
According to the Sun's Anthony Kastrinakis (subscription required), Massimiliano Allegri's Champions League runners-up see the Brazilian as a replacement for Andrea Pirlo.
Despite Chelsea running to the Premier League title in the season just gone, Oscar's Stamford Bridge prominence wasn't at an optimum as other stars of the team stole the headlines.
Interestingly, the attacking midfielder isn't listed as a priority player to keep hold of by manager Mourinho, quoted by the Mirror's Mike Walters when asked regarding his plans for summer restructuring:
"In other seasons, I was very happy to sell a few players, even good ones, but this year I'm not happy to sell my best players. So the real challenge is to keep them. If I keep [Eden] Hazard, [Nemanja] Matic, [Branislav] Ivanovic, Diego Costa and [Cesc] Fabregas, that's the first target.
I think we need three players—a striker, because we lost our legend [Drogba], a defender and a midfielder to give a little more competitiveness to the squad, bring some new blood in and put some of the team a little bit under pressure.
They need to know there is someone waiting to take their place—now they are the champions, I need that to sustain my way of working. But basically, I want to keep the same players, the same squad, the same manager, and bring stability to the club.
"
Juve have just wrapped up the free transfer of Sami Khedira, who left Real Madrid this summer after struggling to find his place in the first-team plans of departed coach Ancelotti.
Although his reputation on the club level may have diminished slightly, Oscar remains a key player for Brazil, according to the Daily Mail's Rik Sharma:
With the likes of Hazard, Willian, Fabregas and Juan Cuadrado all at Chelsea, Mourinho may feel his playmaking resources are able to take the hit of sacrificing Oscar and still maintain a depth in class this summer.
Pirlo has been instrumental for the Bianconeri in helping the club claim four successive Serie A crowns, and the Turin side appear to be sparing no expense in finding a huge talent to inherit his place in the team.
