Jones Has No Plans to Retire, Several Teams Showing Interest

Friday, June 12

SiriusXM NFL Radio provided a quote from Jones, saying "I'm very surprised I'm a free agent right now but this is a crazy business."

On June 9, Jones spoke with Josina Anderson of ESPN about the upcoming season:

He also said several teams have made inquiries:

Along with his 73 receptions and six touchdowns, Jones finished with 666 receiving yards for the Raiders last year. While he's probably no longer capable of hitting the heights he did in his prime with the Green Bay Packers—he had 161 receptions for 2,236 yards and 24 touchdowns from 2011-13—Jones is a solid veteran presence and is still a capable producer for an NFL team.

Even at the age of 31, Jones is still a player who could step into most teams and offer a viable option as a No. 4 receiver. He was clearly a player quarterback Derek Carr leaned on during his rookie season, and he was always a trusted option for Aaron Rodgers, especially in the red zone.

It would be pretty surprising if Jones didn't surface with a team before training camp, and it would be just as surprising if he didn't ultimately produce for the squad that brings him aboard.
