Auston Robertson to Michigan State: Spartans Land 4-Star DE Prospect

Timothy RappJun 7, 2015

Michigan State just improved its pass rush for the Class of 2016, landing 4-star defensive end Auston Robertson.

Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports confirmed Robertson's decision.

Mike Wilson of 247Sports shared this quote from Robertson on why he chose the Spartans:

Robertson is a physical specimen, standing at 6'5" and weighing 260 pounds. 247Sports lists the Fort Wayne, Indiana, prospect as a 4-star weak-side defensive end and has him ranked as the No. 81 player in the country, the No. 5 weak-side defensive end and the No. 1 recruit from the state of Indiana in its composite rankings.

Robertson participated in the Nike Opening camp and was invited to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

His combination of length and strength makes him very disruptive against both the run and the pass at the defensive end position. He has solid athleticism and is also a very good tight end, so he could have some versatility at the next level. He has good burst coming off the edge, though, and his excellent first step is likely why he'll stick at defensive end at the next level.

Michigan State certainly has to be excited about bringing the potential game-changer on defense aboard. As Robertson continues to become more polished as a player, he could become a real force in the college game and could be one of the highlights of an already strong Class of 2016 for the Spartans.
