Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Fabio Coentrao and Luiz Gustavo Rumours
Chelsea could be closing in on moves for Fabio Coentrao and Luiz Gustavo, according to fresh rumours.
As reported by Metro's Tom Olver, Coentrao is nearing an exit from the Bernabeu and Jose Mourinho is hoping to secure the left-back's services for between £10 and £15 million.
Chelsea will be boosted by the 27-year-old's insistence that he will not sign for Sporting Lisbon, who are reportedly interested in Coentrao.

When linked with Sporting, Coentrao took to Facebook to write: "Contrary to rumours that I will play for Sporting, and despite the respect I have for club, the only Portuguese club for me is Benfica."
This could open the door to a move to the English capital.

The versatile defender would give the Blues a credible alternative to Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back and could also fill in ably in midfield in place of Nemanja Matic.
Mourinho will be familiar with the Portuguese star's talents having worked with him at Real Madrid, and at the prices reported, he would represent reasonable value for money given his wealth of Champions League and international experience.
However, Coentrao made just five starts for Los Blancos in La Liga last season. If the full-back is targeting more minutes on the pitch next term, Chelsea may not be the best choice as starting opportunities are likely to be limited if Azpilicueta remains fit.

Olver also reports that Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo has not ruled out a move to Chelsea in the face of interest from the club.
Gustavo stated he was happy with Wolfsburg, but admitted: "If I were to be able to once again have the chance to go to such a club, then that would be like a gift to me."

When linked with Real Madrid last year, Bleacher Report's own Bundesliga expert Clark Whitney highlighted how the Brazilian's value has shot up since leaving Bayern Munich:
After helping guide Wolfsburg to second place in the Bundesliga and to victory in the DFB-Pokal, Gustavo's value has increased once again, as the deal is thought to be worth £33 million.
The defensive midfielder, who scored in the cup final victory over Borussia Dortmund, would make an excellent alternative to Matic and a far better option alongside the Serbian than the likes of Ramires and John Obi Mikel.

According to Squawka, Gustavo won fewer aerial battles in the league than Matic last season, but he made the same percentage of successful tackles, far more interceptions and also maintained a higher passing accuracy.
The tenacious player would add yet more quality, solidity and depth to Chelsea's squad. However, for a player who is unlikely to force Matic or Cesc Fabregas out of their central roles, £33 million is a hefty price to pay.
As talented as Gustavo is, that money would be better spent on a striker to replace Didier Drogba.
Coentrao and Gustavo are both skilled players who would each bring something to the Blues' squad, but neither should be priority signings for Mourinho. If they find themselves at Stamford Bridge next season, they will most frequently be used coming off the bench.
Matic, Fabregas and Azpilicueta aren't going anywhere.
