2009 NFL Preseason Week Four | Fantasy Football Player Rankings
The fourth week of the preseason is probably the least relevant week in terms of fantasy football and to watch on TV for that matter. With so many starters not playing, this week is all about the young and old players in the league, fighting it out for roster spots.
Even though most of the starters that did play in the preseason did not play long there are some interesting story's from this week. For one Maurice Jones-Drew injured his leg and had to have an MRI.
Mark Sanchez had a perfect drive to start the game against the Eagles going 5-for-5 and throwing a touchdown.
Below I have some observations from the fourth week of preseason and how I see those points of interest playing out from a fantasy perspective.
Note: We have write ups for every preseason game for all four weeks of the preseason. Below we have links to the first three weeks of the preseason and all games in the fourth week.

Fantasy Football Week Four Preseason Notes:
Maurice Jones-Drew Injures Leg
In this preseason the the Jaguars played their starting lineup as Maurice Jones-Drew had three carries and three receptions. During his time on the field, one of his touches of the ball was met with a Redskins defender hitting Drew low and injuring his leg.
From the sidelines it was not thought to be serious but Head Coach Jack Del Rio did say after the game that Drew was ticked off about the low hit and wanted to grab the guy that did it.
Right now Drew is scheduled to have an MRI on his leg and the early analysis on his injury is that he may be limited in the first regular season game. Unfortunately for fantasy owners Drew has one of his better matchups next week when he faces the Colts.
Mark Sanchez Perfect Drive
On the one drive Mark Sanchez had, it was perfect as he went 5-for-5 passing for 67 yards, capping the drive off with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jerricho Cotchery.
One player besides Cotchery I was happy to see Sanchez hookup with was tight end Dustin Keller. On the drive Keller had three catches for 44 yards and I do believe this young tight end is in line for a good season.
Brandon Marshall a Jet?
Talk has been swirling in the past day that the Broncos and Jets are in trade talks for receiver Brandon Marshell.
If the Jets can land Marshall on to the team it will enhance this teams chances to make it to the post season. More importantly than just that, it will give Sanchez a legit No.1 receiver for years to come.
We should know if this deal gets done in the next weeks time.
Sinorice Moss and Mario Manningham battle for roster spot
In a battle for what should be the final roster spot on the Giants receiving core, Mario Manningham and Sinorice Moss had good nights.
Manningham had 4 catches for 74 yards receiving, which was the high for the night amongst Giants pass catchers.
Moss on the other had had two receptions for 35 yards and both catches went for touchdowns.
Out of the two receivers I would expect the Giants to keep Manningham over Moss as Manningham has a cheaper contract and has flashed more skills in the special teams department.
Moss is now a first-round pick bust as he is now in his fourth season with the team and only has a career total of 38 catches for 403 yards with two touchdowns in his career. Look for this receiver to be picked up by another team should he be released by the Giants in the coming week.
