Dolphins Kicker Caleb Sturgis Injures Leg Playing Team Kickball

Dan CarsonJun 5, 2015

The Miami Dolphins are down a leg for the next month due to a tragic leisure accident that occurred during a recent team bonding session.

The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis will miss the rest of OTAs due to an unspecified incident that occurred during a recreational kickball game organized by a team staff member after practice.

It's unclear exactly what happened, but Sturgis injured the quadriceps in his plant leg during the game, and it probably had nothing to do with him overzealously seizing the moment in a game predicated on leg strength.

The general reaction to this development has ranged from "lol" to "God I hope this isn't foreshadowing":

According to Jackson, Sturgis is "optimistic" about resuming "activity" in two to three weeks.

This is good news for Sturgis, known among NFL fans as a solid fantasy plug-and-chug during Justin Tucker's bye week.

The situation could've been worse. It could've been a fondue mixer.
