Alex Rodriguez's cousin, Yuri Sucart, was sentenced Thursday to seven months in prison for his role in the Biogenesis scandal.

"A cousin of New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez who was the star's longtime personal assistant was sentenced Thursday to seven months in prison after pleading guilty to federal drug charges stemming from baseball's South Florida steroids scandal.
U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga also sentenced Yuri Sucart to serve six months of house arrest after his release from prison and imposed a $5,000 fine. He could later be deported to his native Dominican Republic.

Also from the AP report, Sucart was the "last of eight people to plead guilty for roles in providing steroids to Rodriguez and other athletes through the Biogenesis of America clinic owned by Anthony Bosch."
"Mr. Sucart is one of the most important individuals in this case," assistant United States attorney Sharad Motiani told the AP. "It wasn't only Alex Rodriguez. He provided it to other professional athletes, there's no dispute about that."
Anthony Bosch and Biogenesis came to the forefront of steroids and performance-enhancing drugs in January 2013 when Tim Elfrink of the Miami New Times detailed how Bosch and others would distribute steroids to athletes.
Rodriguez was one of 13 players suspended by Major League Baseball for his role in the Biogenesis scandal. He missed the entire 2014 season as a result of the discipline, but he has returned this year with a .270/.364/.517 slash line in 51 games.
