Belmont Stakes 2015: Mobile Live Stream, Post Time and Race Schedule for Elmont
The 147th running of the Belmont Stakes has a strong chance to produce some historic results.
No horse has won the elusive Triple Crown since Affirmed edged out Alydar at Belmont Park in 1978. Since then, a total of 13 horses have entered the Belmont Stakes with the same aspirations—each left empty-handed. For those of you keeping track, we're now in the 37th year of the drought.
This year, Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner American Pharoah appears primed to make a run at horse racing's most coveted feat. The colt showed an impressive combination of acceleration, top-end speed, stamina and closing ability during the first two legs of the Triple Crown, and he now enters the third leg as the favorite.
Will he add his name alongside Affirmed in the history books, or will he simply become another statistic? As we anxiously await the answer to that question, let's take a look at all of the essential viewing information and a list of contenders for the 2015 Belmont Stakes.

Race Preview

All eyes are on American Pharoah as the race approaches. The impressive colt was brilliant in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, despite unfavorable starting positions in each race—he began way outside at Churchill Downs and from the dreaded No. 1 gate at Pimlico. However, his fortunes changed at Belmont Park.
Wednesday's post draw awarded Pharoah the No. 5 gate. Historically, that has been a fantastic position that has yielded 13 winners, including 1977 Triple Crown champion Seattle Slew. Starting in gate No. 5 will give jockey Victor Espinoza a strategic advantage early in the race, as he'll have plenty of options at his disposal.

Trainer Bob Baffert was elated following the post draw and shared his thoughts during an interview with the Associated Press, via ESPN.com: "I've always liked the five. It's a number I always do well with. More important is the horse is doing well."
This will be Baffert's fourth attempt at the Triple Crown. The famed trainer has yet to achieve the elusive feat, but considering Pharoah's impressive ability, the fourth time could be the charm.
One horse standing in Pharoah's way is Frosted. Winner of the 2015 Wood Memorial, Frosted entered the Kentucky Derby but didn't come away with a desired result, finishing fourth due to a bad start. Sluggish breaks have plagued Frosted, but the horse may have the Belmont field's best closing ability. A strong start will be the key to an upset.

Todd Pletcher's Materiality is another favorite in this year's Belmont Stakes. The colt was caught up in traffic in the Kentucky Derby and wound up finishing sixth. The trainer decided to hold the horse out of the Preakness and focus on the Belmont Stakes instead. That additional rest may prove to be very advantageous.
Pletcher is very confident in his horse, and he shared his thoughts during an interview with Dan Wolken of USA Today: "With Materiality, if you look at his first three races he can be close to the pace. He missed the break at Churchill and found himself in a position he's never been in. I like being outside of American Pharoah. We're going to go into the first turn trying to make sure there's an honest pace."

A colt to keep an eye on is Madefromlucky. This will be his first attempt at a Triple Crown race, as the Peter Pan Stakes winner didn't participate in either the Kentucky Derby or Preakness Stakes. Interestingly enough, last year's Belmont Stakes winner, Tonalist, took that exact same path.
Mubtaahij has a decent track record, winning both the Al Bastakiya and UAE Derby; however, he had a disappointing showing in the Kentucky Derby, finishing eighth. While dealing with the No. 1 post at Belmont Park can be scary, the position has yielded 23 past winners—the most of any gate by a wide margin.
Rounding out the field are long shots Tale of Verve, Keen Ice and Frammento. Tale of Verve produced a runner-up showing in the Preakness Stakes but is unproven otherwise. Keen Ice finished seventh in the Kentucky Derby and has never placed better than third in any race other than his Maiden Special Weight. Frammento is coming off an 11th-place finish at Churchill Downs.
