Juventus Confirm Chiellini Will Miss Berlin Final
Thursday, June 4
"The scan revealed a first grade tear of the soleus muscle in his left leg, meaning the defender will miss Saturday’s final with Barcelona," reported the club's official website.
Chiellini thanked fans for their support and offered a good luck message to his team-mates via his official Twitter feed:
AS suggested Andrea Barzagli will step in for Chiellini at centre-back for the Berlin final, having just overcome an injury himself. Barzagli "completed a full training session" on Wednesday, according to AS' report.
Chiellini's absence will mean no reunion with Barcelona striker Luis Suarez for the first time since the Uruguayan bit him during a game at last summer's World Cup.

Suarez received a four-month ban as a consequence, delaying the start of his Blaugrana career after his move from Liverpool. Chiellini previously accepted Suarez's apology, using his Twitter account to say the incident is "all forgotten," relayed by the Mirror.
The 30-year-old defender has never won a prize outside of Juventus' grip on Italian football and will be a significant loss to Allegri's side against Barca.
