Stanley Cup Final 2015: Blackhawks vs. Lightning Game 1 Result, Updated Schedule
The Tampa Bay Lightning have had few regrets in this spring's Stanley Cup playoffs.
However, they have a big one on their hands after sitting on a lead in the third period and letting it get away in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday.
Teuvo Teravainen scored the tying goal and set up Antoine Vermette with the winner in the final seven minutes to take a 2-1 victory in the series opener.

The Lightning came out aggressively at home in Tampa, and they took a 1-0 lead at the 4:31 mark of the first period when Alex Killorn made an artful deflection of an Anton Stralman shot from the point that got by Chicago goaltender Corey Crawford.
The Chicago goalie would not get beaten again despite a number of solid chances for the Lightning. Most of Tampa Bay's best chances were in the first and second periods.
However, they sat back in the third period, and that type of strategy rarely works against a talented group of veterans like the Blackhawks.
Chicago had the territorial advantage throughout the third period, and Teravainen took advantage of a screen set by Marcus Kruger, and he wristed the puck into the net over goalie Ben Bishop's right shoulder.

That goal shocked the Lightning, and they attempted to step up the pace, but the momentum had clearly turned in the Blackhawks' favor. Less than two minutes after he tied the score, Teravainen got his stick on a puck and sent it toward Vermette. The former Arizona Coyote settled the puck and quickly wristed it into the top corner of the net.
Veteran forward Marian Hossa gave credit to Teravainen for the turnaround in the third period, per David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period: "It's amazing how he's matured."
The Lightning tried to pressure Crawford in the final minutes and pulled Bishop in the final 90 seconds. However, they were unable to garner any Grade A chances, and Crawford was able to keep them from tying the score.
Veteran Tampa Bay defenseman Stralman thought his team could have done more in the final 20 minutes, per Bryan Burns of the team's official website:
"Stralman said the #TBLightning were too conservative in 3rd. "We sat back a little bit too much and let them take over."

A game that appeared to be in the win column for Tampa Bay slipped away from the home team and into the pockets of the savvy and hungry Blackhawks.
It's only one game, but it may turn into a regret that haunts the Lightning throughout the offseason.
