MLB All-Star Game 2015 Voting: Bryce Harper, Matt Carpenter Top 2nd NL Results

Timothy RappJun 2, 2015

The Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper has been one of the best players, if not the best player, in baseball this season. It's hardly surprising that he's leading the National League MLB All-Star Game voting by a landslide margin in the latest update.

MLB Communications on Twitter passed along that update:

At the time of publication, Harper was leading the National League in home runs (18), runs (42), was tied with Giancarlo Stanton in RBI (44) and was fifth in batting average (.325). He was a force of nature in the month of May, hitting .360 with 13 home runs, 28 RBI and 24 runs scored.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter was second in the voting. He's hitting .311 on the year with eight home runs, 27 RBI and 34 runs scored.

If the voting ended Tuesday, the Cardinals would have the most starters in the game, with shortstop Jhonny Peralta joining Carpenter as a leading vote-getter at his position and Matt Holliday currently second in the voting for outfielders. It's not a surprise the Cardinals have several players in the running for the All-Star Game, as the team's 33-18 record is the best in baseball.

But all eyes are going to be on Harper, who to this point in the season is the front-runner for the MVP and is a serious contender to win a Triple Crown. Keeping up his pace from May is probably impossible, but it would be a shock if Harper didn't earn the most National League votes by a large margin this year.
