Manchester United Transfer News: Huge David De Gea Rumours, Hugo Lloris Latest
David De Gea's transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid is "all but done," according to Neil Custis of the Sun.
The Spanish stopper enjoyed a tremendous 2014-15 season in the Red Devils net—winning many points with vital saves—but he has long been linked with a switch to the Bernabeu. Custis suggests the inevitable is on the cusp of being finalised:

De Gea recently played it coy when asked about his future. He spoke at an event that saw him named the adopted son of Castilla-La Mancha, as Manu Sainz of AS reported: "We'll see what happens with my future."

Such a quote isn't the most committed, and with Custis' tweet in mind, it's entirely possible United fans may have witnessed De Gea's last performance for the club. The 24-year-old is in line to dominate the Spanish national team before too long, replacing potential Madrid team-mate Iker Casillas in Vicente del Bosque's side.
"De Gea does not want to say it, but at Madrid they already know that the goalkeeper wants to occupy the position in the Bernabeu goal from next season," writes Sainz.
United manager Louis van Gaal previously admitted the club "have a list of goalkeepers who can replace him because we have to be organised always," per Sky Sports. Tottenham Hotspur stopper Hugo Lloris is one of the stars being linked with an Old Trafford switch, as Chisanga Malata of the Daily Star reported.

Lloris has confirmed he doesn't have a buyout clause in comments given to French outlet L'Equipe (h/t Chris Davie of Goal.com): "That's not true. There's no clause."
The Frenchman also confirmed he is in direct contact with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, suggesting there is nothing to hide, per L'Equipe:
"I've always liked to talk directly to the Spurs board. It is important to know these guys, to feel the culture of the club and know how it functions. When you have the privilege of talking directly to the chairman, like I do with Daniel Levy, it makes things more simple. So I know what is said, it's a relationship of trust.
"

United already have Spanish stopper Victor Valdes in their ranks. He put on an excellent performance during the recent 0-0 draw with Hull City despite a couple of rusty moments from crosses. The former Barcelona 'keeper ranks among the best in the world when fit, but he has barely played since suffering a serious knee injury prior to the 2014 World Cup.
De Gea would be a huge loss for the club, but Van Gaal can make up for his departure in other areas. Daily Express (h/t Lee Thomas-Mason of Metro) has mooted a £10 million bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The Daily Star (h/t Jamie Sanderson of Metro) has also linked Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin while German outlet Bild (h/t Sport Witness) indicates Ilkay Gundogan's talks with Bayern Munich have "ended." This could see United move closer to signing the Borussia Dortmund player during a summer of much change, as B/R UK's Alex Dimond recently discussed:
De Gea's situation has appeared ominous for some time, as it's not often Madrid fail to land their targets. The goalkeeper is a native of the city and is unlikely to turn down the chance to star in La Liga, having previously developed at Los Blancos' neighbours, Atletico Madrid.
Whether Van Gaal sticks with Valdes or moves for someone of Lloris' ilk, the Dutchman will make sure United's ranks are stacked. United need to be pushing on for trophies next season—having now gone two seasons without winning silverware—and must fill the squad with world-class players whether De Gea leaves or not.
