The 26-year-old moved to Barcelona from Valencia in 2012 and quickly established himself as one of the top left-backs in the world. A regular starter for both the Blaugrana and the Spanish national team, Alba combines pace and technique to add plenty of depth to the attack, while never shying away from his defensive duty.

ESPN Tucson's Roberto Payne was happy to find out the two parties came to an agreement, and wonders if right-back Dani Alves will be next:

Alba and Alves form the backbone of Barcelona's attack, surging forward with every chance they get and creating situations where the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi can find themselves isolated.

The Spain international never looked likely to leave, but given his immense talent and production over the last few years, interested parties could have made their move had the Catalans been unable to come to an agreement with the player.

Instead, Alba is set to continue his career with the Blaugrana, and fans can rest easy. While there's still some uncertainty regarding the future of Alves on the other wing, Alba gives Barcelona one of the top options in the world on the left.
