Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling Rumours
Real Madrid President Florentino Perez wishes to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to reports.
Juanma Trueba of AS suggests the capture of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea and arrival of soon-to-be-unveiled boss Rafa Benitez won't be enough to "excite" fans during the summer. However, signing the 2014-15 Premier League top scorer would fill the club's annual Galactico quota.
"With his signing, the Real Madrid president would fulfil an old dream, one which was frustrated in 2011," writes Trueba. "Back then, the preliminary agreement with the player was not made effective in order to avoid provoking a war with Atletico (Madrid, Aguero's old club and Real's local rivals)."

AS tweeted an image of its Tuesday headline:
Trueba suggests Karim Benzema will make way if Aguero is brought in. The Frenchman was key under Carlo Ancelotti's rule, linking together Madrid's attacking trident, which also includes Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. However, his tally of 15 La Liga goals isn't particularly inspiring by Madrid's standards, making him susceptible to this type of speculation.

In 2012, Aguero suggested he would have joined Real instead of heading to England, rubbishing reports he wasn't willing to make the cross-city journey to the Bernabeu. He spoke to ESPN (h/t the Daily Mail):
"If Real Madrid had been interested in me, then I would be here," said Aguero. "I want to take this opportunity to refute the information where I supposedly said that I would never play for Real Madrid because I played at Atletico. It was published in an English newspaper."
Jeremy Cross of the Daily Star believes Real are readying a £70 million attempt to sign the Argentinian, who notched 26 domestic goals during the recently concluded campaign. The player's consistency is highlighted by B/R UK:

Aguero is a leader for Manuel Pellegrini's team, often dragging them through tough matches with a tremendous range of strikes. Many would underline his hat-trick in November's 3-2 win over Bayern Munich as an indicator of his class.
Madrid are also said to be preparing a £45 million attempt to sign Liverpool's Raheem Sterling, reported by Antony Kastrinakis of the Sun (h/t Jamie Anderson of the Daily Star). Kastrinakis believes Madrid are due to "open talks" with the Reds in the next two weeks, perhaps taking the opportunity to propose a move when the two sides meet in a friendly encounter on June 14.
B/R UK's Sam Tighe recently discussed multiple potential destinations for Sterling:
Madrid's need for success never ceases, suggesting key changes to playing staff are likely to be made now Ancelotti has been dismissed. Aguero is a readymade hero, someone whose goals would make an instant impact. Sterling remains raw but is highly talented and could develop into a special player.
The summer will no doubt be a busy one for Madrid, as the capital-based side look to cut the gap on Barcelona and stop Luis Enrique's men from establishing another era of success.
