Cipriani Released on Bail After Road Accident

Cipriani was reportedly arrested at around 5:15 a.m. on Monday morning after a road accident involving his Mercedes and another car, according to Ellis. "He was given a breath test before being released on police bail," writes Ellis.
Oliver Ward, the player's agent, commented on the situation, reported by Sam Relph of the Mirror:
"There was a minor road traffic collision last night and Danny co-operated with police by going to the station," said Ward. "He has not been charged with any offence and is on unrestricted bail except to return to the station when the police have investigated what happened."
The Sale fly-half is hoping to make Stuart Lancaster's World Cup squad, having posted an excellent performance in the Three Lions' 73-12 win over Barbarians on Sunday. Cipriani added 33 individual points in a makeshift lineup, scoring two tries, one penalty and 10 conversions.
The Rugby Football Union said that they would withhold punishment on Cipriani until the judicial system had reached a decision, according to the BBC.

Lancaster's squad for the upcoming tournament—which will be hosted in England—has already been impacted by unsavoury incidents from other players.
He dismissed centre Manu Tuilagi from selection after he was convicted of assaulting two female police officers and a taxi driver, while hooker Dylan Hartley is no longer in contention after headbutting Saracens' Jamie George during a club appearance for Northampton Saints, as reported by Ellis.
Cipriani recently appeared in the Six Nations for England, but he remains on the periphery of Lancaster's side. The 27-year-old's arrest is unlikely to help his cause, particularly when considering how Lancaster has disciplined previous wrongdoers in his squad.
