The Seattle Mariners (24-26) will face the new-look New York Yankees (26-25) on Monday night at Safeco Field. The Yankees will make their first and only trip to Seattle this season for a three-game series.

The Mariners are back on the right track, having won six of their last 10 games. Many predicted that Seattle would run the table to make its first postseason appearance since 2001 and reach the World Series.

Seattle is led by offseason acquisition Nelson Cruz, who has continued his impressive play dating back to last season. Cruz has a .335 batting average, 18 home runs and 38 RBI through 50 games played this season.

The Yankees have exceeded preseason expectations and currently stand tied for first place in the American League East. After legendary shortstop Derek Jeter retired at the end of last season, many wondered what the team would look like without one of the most iconic players of all time.

Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, whom the Yankees acquired before last season from the rival Boston Red Sox, now leads New York. Ellsbury is hitting .324 with 48 hits and 29 runs scored so far this season.

The game can be viewed on Root Sports and followed here for live updates. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET. Live updates and posts will begin at 8:45 p.m. ET.
