Mike MonacoJun 1, 2015

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Notre Dame football coaching staff worked right to the end of the spring evaluation period, which concluded Friday, and dished out seven offers over the last week.

Each week we’ll be keeping tabs on the new scholarship offers sent out by the Notre Dame coaches, tracking the recruiting process as the Irish focus their attention toward the classes of 2016, 2017 and maybe even 2018.

Damian Alloway

Damian Alloway

Class of 2016 all-purpose running back Damian Alloway landed a Notre Dame offer Thursday.

The 5’8”, 170-pounder is the No. 2 all-purpose back in the country and the No. 140 overall player. The 4-star prospect hails from Fontana, California. UCLA and Cal were the first two schools to offer Alloway, who received those offers roughly 13 months ago. He also holds offers from Wisconsin, Arizona State and Washington, among others.

“Honestly, man, everything,” Alloway told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong when asked what he likes about Notre Dame. “The education and football is top notch.”

Per Wiltfong, Alloway is scheduled to visit campus for Notre Dame’s night game against USC in mid-October. The Irish are recruiting Alloway as a slot receiver, according to Wiltfong.

According to Irish247’s Tom Loy, Notre Dame is “very much a player” for Alloway, but UCLA, Wisconsin and Cal are in contention, as well.

Carlos Becker

Carlos Becker

Class of 2016 cornerback Carlos Becker hauled in a Notre Dame offer Tuesday, per Loy.

Becker is the No. 39 cornerback and No. 428 overall prospect in the nation. The Kissimmee, Florida, product also claims offers from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida, Ohio State and Florida State, among others.

According to Loy, Becker “is expected to visit Notre Dame this summer.”

Korey Charles

The Irish extended an offer to class-of-2016 athlete Korey Charles on Thursday.

The Tallahassee, Florida, native is listed at 5’11”, 173 pounds and is slotted as the No. 27 athlete and No. 421 overall player in the class. Other offers include LSU, Mississippi State, Miami, Florida State and Clemson.

According to Loy, the Notre Dame staff has not determined an exact position for Charles, and either side of the ball could still be in play. Loy expects Notre Dame to battle Clemson, Florida, Mississippi State and Florida State for Charles.

Chase Claypool

Notre Dame’s recruiting efforts weren’t limited to the United States. The staff offered class-of-2016 wide receiver Chase Claypool, an Abbotsford, British Columbia native, on Thursday.

Listed at 6’5”, 205 pounds, Claypool is a 3-star prospect with offers from Oregon, Washington, Mississippi State, Michigan and Arizona, as well.

“While the Ducks may be considered the favorite, look for Notre Dame to make a major move when Claypool arrives in South Bend for the Irish Invasion on June 19,” Loy wrote.

Nygel Edmonds

Notre Dame jumped into the fray for class-of-2016 cornerback and Stanford commit Nygel Edmonds with an offer Tuesday.

Edmonds, the No. 29 cornerback and No. 312 overall player, hails from Chattanooga, Tennessee. The 4-star prospect pledged to Stanford on April 14.

“I’m firm with my commitment to Stanford, but I know that Notre Dame is a good school academically and I’m very hyped about the offer,” Edmonds told Wiltfong.

“I need to talk to my parents about it, but I’m going to try and get up there in the summer or early fall. I’d love to take a visit even if it’s an unofficial,” Edmonds told Wiltfong.

Mark Jackson

Mark Jackson

The Irish offered class-of-2016 weak-side defensive end Mark Jackson on Thursday, but the Cibolo, Texas, product committed to Texas A&M two days later.

Jackson checks in as the No. 9 weak-side defensive end and No. 179 overall prospect.

Jackson racked up 29 tackles for loss and 10 sacks during his junior season.

D.J. Morgan

D.J. Morgan

Six days after he committed to Arizona State, class-of-2016 safety D.J. Morgan received an offer from Notre Dame on Tuesday.

A 3-star recruit, Morgan is the No. 28 safety and No. 431 overall player in the class. According to 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow, Morgan said Irish assistant coaches Brian VanGorder and Mike Denbrock stopped by school to extend the offer.

“They said they felt they should’ve offered a while ago and apologized,” Morgan said.

Morgan told Bartow he’s “pretty solid with Arizona State” and doesn’t expect to visit Notre Dame this summer.
