Power Ranking Likely Winners of Tag Team Titles at Elimination Chamber
More men than ever before will pile into the Elimination Chamber on Sunday when the WWE Tag Team Championships are put on the line inside the chaotic structure.
Defending champions The New Day may well be hot favorites to win and retain their titles, but there are strong cases for almost all of the teams competing to walk away with the belts.
Cesaro and Tyson Kidd still retain a strong level of popularity despite a couple of damaging defeats, while there are new teams, recently reunited teams and a wide mix of talent all campaigning to emerge as the new tag champions.
But what's the likelihood of each team winning at Elimination Chamber, and which one stands perhaps the best chance out of all six? The most difficult thing about splitting the teams is that over the course of the last month, they've all been beating each other.
But regardless, here are the teams most likely to win at Sunday's event, all in reverse order.
6. The Ascension
1 of 6
We start off with one of two teams who have made the leap up to the main roster from NXT in the last few months.
Quite frankly, The Ascension have endured a pretty miserable time of things since coming onto the main roster, and their involvement here is somewhat of a surprise.
They've little momentum behind them whatsoever, and there's not much of a case you can make for them to win.
What's more important for Konnor and Viktor here is to put in a strong showing and confirm to everyone that despite a gimmick which is struggling to get off the ground, they can certainly compete with the best tag teams in WWE.
5. Los Matadores
2 of 6Los Matadores always seem to be one of WWE's go-to teams when it comes to multiple team matches.
They were involved in a Fatal-4 Way at WrestleMania for the tag titles but came up on the losing side. Don't expect things to be any different here, either.
Most of their work over the last year has revolved around feuds with low-end stars such as 3MB and the like, and there's no evidence to suggest they'll be pushed to title levels here.
It's been a real struggle for Los Matadores, who, much like The Ascension, have little chance of winning here.
4. The Lucha Dragons
3 of 6
After Los Matadores and The Ascension, the other four teams all have a valid claim to win the WWE Tag Team Championships.
The Lucha Dragons have made a pretty electrifying start to life on the main roster since jumping up from NXT.
Kalisto and Sin Cara give the entire division a whole new dynamic and reminded everyone that they're a threat this weekend by defeating Cesaro and Tyson Kidd on SmackDown.
They're perhaps not as hotly tipped as the other three teams who will follow them here, but The Lucha Dragons certainly have a fair chance to come out of Elimination Chamber with the straps on Sunday night.
And with Kalisto and Sin Cara in the match, you know it will be entertaining.
3. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd
4 of 6
It's perhaps surprising that Cesaro and Tyson Kidd haven't had a sustained run with the WWE Tag Team Championships yet, but that could well change this weekend.
They're right in the mix when it comes to ranking the potential winners, not least because they're one of the more popular teams in the match.
Both Cesaro and Kidd have great dynamics in the ring, and they're a great mix as a team. Throw Natalya into the fire, and you have all the hallmarks of a good, solid group.
It's tough to split any of the three leading teams when it comes to analysing potential winners, but you just get the feeling that Cesaro and Kidd could cope with a loss better than the other teams to follow.
2. The Prime Time Players
5 of 6
Splitting them up was always going to be a huge mistake, and thankfully for the tag division, The Prime Time Players are back as a major force again.
They've been booked cleverly in the lead-up to Elimination Chamber—almost completely differently than every other team, in fact.
While the leading contenders have all been squaring off against each other, The Prime Time Players have been doing what they do best while creating some entertaining segments with their comedy.
It's going to be great to see them in proper action again come Sunday, and they look like the best-placed side to challenge The New Day here.
Just like their surprise win a few weeks ago, another twist here would be great to keep the tag division fresh and give Titus O'Neil and Darren Young a title reign that is long overdue.
1. The New Day
6 of 6
The New Day have been great tag champions, and their run as kings of the division looks like it might well continue at Elimination Chamber.
They've morphed into a really strong, credible heel faction, even when it looked like their gimmick was set to bomb spectacularly.
WWE has thought on its feet and (correctly) turned them heel, and with Xavier Woods as the mouthpiece of the group, they've been better and better.
Few would argue with their continuing as champions, as there's the feeling that there's a lot more to come from them.
They work well as a team, say the right things and have been worthy champions. Of all six teams, a successful defence is the most likely option this Sunday.
