PYATT NOW A COYOTE

Third line forward Taylor Pyatt who was a former New York Islanders first round pick in 1998 recently signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Phoenix Coyotes. This 28 year-old forward who played one full season in New York before enjoying stints with the Buffalo Sabres and most recently the Vancouver Canucks has been victimized by an assortment of injuries by an assortment of injuries throughout his eight- year career. Last year on the West Coast Pyatt scored 10 goals and 19 points in only 69 games with the Canucks. Terms were not disclosed on what was a one- year deal Pyatt signed on September 2. 

MAIR SIDELINED FOR SIX-WEEKS 

The Buffalo Sabres will be without the grittiness of veteran forward Adam Mair who recently had what has been termed successful arthroscopic hip surgery. This 30 year-old who is a nine year veteran is slated to be sidelined for up to six weeks. Mair who was a fourth round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1997 is coming off his best season where he scored 8 goals and 19 points. 

 NO GAME AT THE BIG O

Contrary to the various rumors the Montreal Canadiens will not be playing any games inside Olympic Stadium this coming season. During the off-season various stories were making the rounds that Montreal was planning on hosting the Washington Capitals in a late November game at the Stadium but that will definitely not be the case due in large part to time constraints. According to Montreal representative Donald Beauchamp the NHL requires at least a week to build up the ice surface.
