Rather than try to put his shoe back on quickly after losing it while driving for a layup, Barako Bull Energy (Philippine Basketball Association) forward Rico Maierhofer decided to use the footwear to help him on the defensive end.

When San Miguel Beermen forward Gabriel Espinas went up for a shot near the basket, Maierhofer tried to block the attempt—with his shoe. It was a move that would've driven Austin Powers crazy.

Maierhofer was unable to block the shot. However, his move forced his opponent to pass the ball—which led to a turnover—rather than shoot.

The unusual play created some pretty bizarre photos, per SPIN.ph:

Per SPIN.ph's Richard Dy, PBA operations director Rickie B. Santos said that Maierhofer could have been whistled for a technical foul for using a "foreign object" during the game.
