5 Things for Arsenal Fans to Look Forward to in 2015/16 Premier League Season

James McNicholasMay 29, 2015

The end of the season often leaves football fans staring forlornly at an empty calendar, wondering how they're going to survive the summer months.

Good news, Arsenal fans: You can dream those eight weeks away imagining all the delights the 2015/16 season might hold. The Gunners have enjoyed a strong finish to 2014/15, and there's plenty to look forward to ahead of the new campaign.

In this piece, we list five things that will have the Arsenal fans excited about the new season.

Watching Calum Chambers Blossom

In the second half of the season, Calum Chambers has tumbled down the pecking order into the lower reaches of the squad.

That may prove to be a good thing: For a young player, it's sometimes important to step out of the firing line and improve your game. He remains a prospect of enormous potential.

Chambers will benefit from sticking to one position. His future is surely as a centre-half, and Arsene Wenger should focus on developing him in that role.

A Chance to Beat Jose Mourinho

Next season presents Arsene Wenger with another opportunity to overcome Jose Mourinho.

This season, Arsenal demonstrated a newfound ability to cope with fixtures against elite opposition. They gained victories over Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, Wenger still can't beat Mourinho. 2015/16 will present another chance to end the hoodoo. If Arsenal can do that, it could give them the boost they need to fuel their title challenge.

Seeing the Best of Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil is finally ready, and the indications are he could be worth the wait.

His first season at Arsenal was one of acclimatisation; his second was influenced by World Cup fatigue and then interrupted by injury.

However, since returning to the side in January he has looked more prepared than ever for the physical and mental challenge English football provides. Next year could be his year.

Fresh Legs

This season, Arsenal suffered a slow start to the season that ultimately left Chelsea out of reach.

That was surely influenced by the participation of so many of their players in the World Cup. When the Premier League season kicked off, the Gunners squad contained three players (Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski) whose tournament had extended all the way to the final.

There will be no such excuses next August. Although Alexis Sanchez and David Ospina will have competed in the Copa America, the rest of the Arsenal squad should be well rested and raring to go.

Finishing Above Tottenham

5 of 5

Well, it happens every season, doesn't it?

The Gunners have finished above their local rivals in each of the last 20 seasons. It would take an enormous turnaround for that run to end next year.
