Manchester United Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Talks Reported, Top Rumours
Jorge Mendes, Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo's agent, has used his time in England to talk with Manchester United about the Portuguese superstar, according to reports.
Mendes also represents United goalkeeper David De Gea, who continues to be linked with a move to Madrid, reported by Fichajes.net (h/t Marc Williams of the Daily Star).
Spanish journalist Alfredo Duro believes Mendes has spoken to the Premier League club about both players, per Radio Marca (via Ben Jefferson of the Express): "Jorge Mendes, when he was in Manchester, not only spoke about De Gea but also Cristiano Ronaldo. It was the same in London and Madrid."

In March, the Sun's Antony Kastrinakis spoke about Ronaldo to Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement show: "I think he can come back, but a lot of things have to fall into place."
Things have certainly gone in United's favour since then. Not only did Louis van Gaal's men qualify for the Champions League, but also Real failed to secure a trophy and manager Carlo Ancelotti was relieved of his duties on Monday, reported by BBC Sport. Ronaldo previously spoke of his admiration for the boss, per Marca, so he may be disappointed to see him leave.
Despite confirming the 2015 Golden Shoe with 48 La Liga strikes, Ronaldo's lack of team success since joining Madrid has been surprising. He's won just a single La Liga title and two Copa del Rey trophies in six years. Last season's Champions League win was special, but the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup successes that followed are secondary. Madrid should be dominant in Spain.

United fans will have watched on in envy since Ronaldo left. He is regarded as a legend at Old Trafford, where he fired Sir Alex Ferguson's team to great success. United have never got close to replacing his output, but are now in a position to build for an exciting future.
The club are also linked with Gareth Bale, per Jefferson. Bleacher Report UK's Thom Gibbs recently compared to the two from United's standpoint:
Ronaldo could be a top-class replacement for United winger Angel Di Maria, who will be allowed to exit if he asks to leave, reported by Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail. Paris Saint-Germain remain interested, according to Ladyman, but Di Maria can still be considered part of Van Gaal's plans until he reveals the Premier League isn't for him.
United supporters will be looking forward to a busy summer now that the season is over. Plenty of fresh faces are expected—including a handful of top-quality players to launch an assault on Chelsea's title—but Ronaldo's reappearance still appears far off.
Madrid's new coach is likely to want to build his team around the 30-year-old, so it would likely take the influence of the player to push through a mega-transfer.
