Giancarlo Fisichella, fresh from his magnificent second place at Spa-Francorchamps, has been confirmed as the newest driver to take up Felipe Massa's seat at Ferrari.
The 36-year-old Italian is to replace underperforming Luca Badoer as the stand-in for Massa until the end of the season.
"It has always been an ambition," says Fisichella.
He will make his debut at the Italian GP, on the 11th—13th September.
This breaking news has confirmed the rumours that Fisichella would drive for the Italian team.
He has been released from his Force India contract, despite scoring the team's first points, last weekend.
Force India test driver Vitantonio Liuzzi is favourite to take Fisichella's seat.
Fisichella's performance has been very well received by Ferrari, and it is believed that his performance at the Belgium GP helped to secure the drive.
