Kyle Korver Injury Update: Hawks Star Ruled out for Season with Sprained Ankle

Tim DanielsMay 23, 2015

Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter Kyle Korver was ruled out for the remainder of the playoffs Saturday because of an ankle injury.

Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution passed along the news:

He also provided further details about the situation:

Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today provided the full release from the Hawks:

The injury is another setback for the Hawks, who fell behind the Cleveland Cavaliers 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night. Korver had 12 points in 32 minutes in the loss.

The veteran guard finished third in the NBA during the regular season with 221 three-point field goals. He was also highly efficient, knocking down 49 percent of his attempts.

Tom Haberstroh of ESPN highlighted his success:

His play had dropped off in the postseason, as he was shooting just 36 percent from beyond the arc before the injury. He was still one of the team's most dangerous offensive weapons, though.

Now the Hawks will be forced to attempt a comeback bid without Korver. Given the way LeBron James and the Cavs have played through the first two games of the series, calling it an uphill battle would probably be an understatement.
