WWE Elimination Chamber 2015: Stars Who Deserve Biggest Push Leading Up to PPV

Aaron BowerMay 22, 2015

Who gets pushed in the buildup toward a WWE pay-per-view is always a feverishly debated topic. However, ahead of the WWE Network-exclusive Elimination Chamber on May 31, there are plenty of candidates who could be in line for a big push.

With a card that looks like the most appealing and interesting since WrestleMania, Elimination Chamber promises much in the way of drama and quality entertainment.

And when you start to browse through the matches and determine who needs the biggest push, the tag team division is an area of interest.

There are a few teams who could be good candidates for a push in the run-up to the show, but one who has been away from the spotlight for way too long is The Prime Time Players.

Their breakup and subsequent run as singles competitors really didn't work, and it's great to see Titus O'Neil and Darren Young back together once again.

They've had a huge amount of championship matches in the past yet have always come up short for one reason or another.

That's why, after a few weeks of cutting promos on rival teams in the division, it was great to see them let their actions do the talking this past week on Raw.

Whether or not cleaning out every other side competing in the tag titles match is an indicator of a potential run for them with the belts, it's good to see them back on TV. A sustained push and some significant TV time as we head toward Elimination Chamber would be great to see.

As well as being good inside the ring, they have superb chemistry outside of it and on the microphone, too.

Elsewhere, after three straight defeats on pay-per-view at the hands of John Cena, Rusev is another star who deserves to pick up some momentum ahead of Elimination Chamber.

It's clear now that he's been entered into a feud with Dolph Ziggler and Lana after her turn on Raw this past week, and Rusev and Ziggler will compete inside the Elimination Chamber with the Intercontinental Championship on the line.

Don't expect either man to pick up the strap there, but how Rusev is booked heading toward the match is now vital for his long-term prospects.

WWE needs to revert back to type with Rusev and have him destroy a few guys from lower down the card in order to have him emerge as a credible threat for the match at Elimination Chamber.

Rusev really needs a push following a disappointing few months, and now is the time to do it.

Finally, although the WWE will have to strike a delicate balance as we move toward Elimination Chamber, NXT Champion Kevin Owens is another wrestler who should be pushed on the main roster.

He still needs to be active in NXT to ensure that brand keeps its credibility and prestige at a high level, but some appearances on the main roster are imperative to promote his match against Cena at Elimination Chamber.

Owens doesn't necessarily have to wrestle on Raw or SmackDown, but he needs to be on those shows to help push his fantastic debut on the main roster this past week.

Owens isn't a rookie. He's a guy who has a vast amount of experience in the wrestling business. This push is the least he deserves, especially considering where he was several months ago before he turned on Sami Zayn.

Cena vs. Owens has the potential to be a defining night in Owens' WWE career. A push in the run-up to the event is imperative if that match is to go off with a bang.
