Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, New Orleans Named 2019-20 Super Bowl Location Finalists
At the very least, the NFL has ensured it will not have to worry about snow ruining Super Bowl week in 2020. The league has narrowed down the potential hosts for those Super Bowls to four cities: Atlanta, Miami, Tampa and New Orleans.
Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reported the news. The league is expected to hear formal proposals from each city next May. All four cities have hosted the event before, albeit at different levels.
Miami and New Orleans are regulars on the Super Bowl docket, each hosting a record 10 times. Miami last hosted in 2010, while New Orleans was the host in 2013. New Orleans was also among the three finalists for the 2018 Super Bowl, which was awarded to Minnesota.

Tampa has hosted four times—fourth overall on the all-time list—and did so most recently in 2009.
Of the four, Atlanta's gone the longest without hosting a Super Bowl and has the most reward incentive within the league office. Tampa, New Orleans and Miami have each hosted twice since the last Atlanta Super Bowl in 2000. The Falcons are also in the midst of building a $1.4 billion stadium that's expected to open for the 2017 season.
In recent years, the league has increasingly favored teams with new stadiums for Super Bowl bids. The 49ers, Cowboys, Vikings and Jets/Giants were each able to parlay fancy new digs into hosting the year's biggest event.
Barring a major surprise, you should be able to add Atlanta to that list. The city has a history of hosting the game, is in a warm climate and will have had time to acclimate to the new stadium by 2019 or 2020.
Miami's Sun Life Stadium is currently in the midst of a $350 million renovation, so it's probably a clubhouse favorite in the race among the other three cities. New Orleans, Miami and Tampa each have stadiums that are "old" by NFL standards, though, so it's really a matter of which presents the best case.
