Syracuse Runner Wins ACC Title Despite Losing Shoe in Middle of Race
May 18, 2015
Despite finishing the race with just one shoe, Syracuse freshman Justyn Knight still managed to capture the ACC title in the 1,500-meter race Saturday.
Knight finished the race with a time of 3:47.85, which edged out Virginia Tech sophomore Neil Gourley by six-hundredths of a second. The victory is something to be proud of, but doing it while wearing just one shoe makes the feat even more impressive.
After the race, the ACC champion shared his thoughts on the unusual situation:
Knight even took to Twitter to laugh about what happened:
The freshman can poke fun at the situation because he won. However, had he lost, this likely would be no laughing matter.
