Bay to Breakers 2015: Twitter Reacts to Entertaining Race

Matt FitzgeraldMay 17, 2015

The unique Bay to Breakers distance race took place on Sunday in San Francisco, as athletes and colorful personalities did their best to make for another entertaining spectacle.

And the combination of athletic prowess and bizarre visuals didn't disappoint at the 104th annual edition of the footrace. Jane Kibii won the women's division with a time of 40 minutes, four seconds over 7.46 miles, while Isaac Mukandi Mwangi finished first for the men at 35 minutes, 25 seconds.

When Kibii was congratulated by the race's official Twitter account, the photo attached showed one most interesting costume:

The more exposure this event gets, one has to believe more participants will sign up in the years to come. There's no shortage of fun to be had for those just out for a fine Sunday of exercise, while the serious athletes also get a huge chance to strut their stuff on a grand stage.

Bay to Breakers seems more about gathering together a diverse array of people and celebrating individuality while all working toward the common goal of finishing the race. It's quite an interesting dynamic that can't be matched by any other sporting event.
