UEFA's Ban on Arsenal Forward Eduardo Da Silva Is a Joke
Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva has been handed a two-game ban after being charged with deceiving the referee in last week's Champions League playoff against Celtic at the Emirates Stadium.
UEFA's official website confirmed the punishment saying, "The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body today examined the case of the Arsenal FC player Eduardo 'for deceiving the referee' during the UEFA Champions League playoff second leg match on 26 August against Celtic FC."
It is a new law? So, now everyone who dives will be banned for two games? Or this is just for Eduardo? What about Ashley Young, who dove in the Europa League a day after Eduardo? What about Drogba, who dives at the slightest contact in every match?

If I had a dollar for every time he dives I would be richer than Bill Gates. My wealth would be increasing recession or no recession. I can keep on naming players here.
Yes, Eduardo did dive. Give the guy a break, if the penalty wasn't given he would have got on with the game—I didn't see him asking for the penalty. If the referee saw the dive, he would have flashed a yellow card and the incident would be over. Now the guy has been branded a cheat and suddenly Arsenal are full of cheaters.
From our point of view, it's not nice to be made an example of in world football, but we can easily cope with the two match ban.
The precedent this incident has set means that any refereeing incident can be overturned after reviewing video footage. Does that mean UEFA are going to look back on tapes of the past two years and start banning Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Evra, and Ashley Young?
UEFA wants us to believe that diving won't be tolerated anymore. But I can assure you that on the first match-day of Champions League, 12 people are going to dive and all will go unpunished. Hypocrites!
