Calling True or False on 5 Recent Manchester City Transfer Rumours
Given the resources available to Manchester City since their 2008 takeover by Sheikh Mansour, it's doubtful that many other Premier League sides have had so much transfer speculation attached to them.
After a disappointing campaign that has seen them surrender their league title with something of a whimper, and with UEFA's financial fair play sanctions no longer a hindrance, many are predicting a summer of change at the club.
Here we assess five recent pieces of transfer speculation and call fact or fiction.
Stevan Jovetic to Inter Milan
1 of 5
It's fair to say Stevan Jovetic has underwhelmed since arriving at City in the summer of 2013. An injury-affected first season has been followed up by a frustrating one this time out, and it's time City cut their losses and dispensed with his services.
According to John Cross of the Mirror, Inter Milan are interested and are prepared to make an offer of a season-long loan followed by a permanent £8 million move in 2016.
Whether it is Inter or another Serie A side, it seems extremely likely City will look to sell Jovetic this summer.
Verdict: FACT
Kevin De Bruyne
2 of 5
Cross believes that the money raised from the sale of Jovetic could be used to make a bid for Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne.
The former Chelsea midfielder has impressed in the Bundesliga this season. According to WhoScored.com, the 23-year-old has registered 10 goals and 19 assists in his 32 league appearances.
Valued at £35 million, De Bruyne won't come cheap, but there's been constant speculation suggesting City are interested.
Verdict: FACT
Yaya Toure to Inter Milan
3 of 5
According to Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News, Inter Milan are interested in taking Yaya Toure to the San Siro this summer.
The Ivorian is thought to be high up on former City manager Roberto Mancini's wish list, and Brennan reports that Erick Thohir, the president of the Italian club, has said: “I don't know if we will succeed but we will do everything in our power to get him."
It's clear Inter want him, but whether City will want to sell one of their most prized assets remains unclear.
Verdict: FACT
Roberto Firmino
4 of 5
Brennan also writes that Hoffenheim's Roberto Firmino, a Brazilian attacking midfielder, is on City's radar.
Brennan believes the 23-year-old, who won his first international call-up this season, wants to play in the Premier League and is valued at around £18 million.
Verdict: FICTION
James Milner to Liverpool
5 of 5
With James Milner's contract at City set to expire in June, and with no new agreement having yet been reached, it's becoming increasingly likely he will leave the Etihad Stadium in the coming weeks.
Mike Keegan, writing in the Mail, has said that Liverpool are interested in the 29-year-old and that Milner wants first-team football.
With Liverpool a side very much focused on having a core of English players, and with Steven Gerrard leaving the club at the end of the season, Anfield could be the perfect place for Milner to play his football next season.
