Thomas Vermaelen Could Cost Barcelona £2.8M for Winning Champions League

Thomas Vermaelen could be repaying Arsene Wenger's faith in the him despite no longer being an Arsenal player...nor playing for his current club, Barcelona. 

Allow us to explain.

Vermaelen made 110 appearances for Arsenal between 2009 and 2014 and even wore the captain's armband after Robin van Persie left following the 2012 season.

The Belgian was sold to Barcelona in the summer of 2014 for a reported £15 million (per Sky Sports) but has been plagued by injuries since joining the Catalan giants and has yet to play a single minute for the club. 

As part of his move to Barcelona, certain incentive-based bonuses were added, and the north Londoners could pocket another £2.8 million (per the Express) if Barcelona win the Champions League final against Juventus. 

Not a bad bit of business, Arsene Wenger.
