When you think PGA Tour, relationship statuses are not usually the first things mentioned.

However, in the past year, the PGA Tour has been headlined by relationship news. The first breakup to make noise was Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki, followed by Jason Dufner and Amanda Boyd and, most recently, Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn.

Those relationships were at the top of the list in terms of power couples, but the breakups started to shake things up. Although McIlroy and Woods are currently single, there are still a few big couples on tour.

In order to be a power couple, the golfer’s spouse didn't have to be famous before they started dating, but it doesn’t hurt. That spouse just needs to bring enough attention to herself that, by being associated with the golfer, she, in turn, became famous.

Here are the top five power couples in golf.

Honourable Mentions

    Jason Day and Ellie Harvey

Jason Day is No. 8 in the Official World Golf Rankings and has some very impressive finishes in major championships. However, as per Ethan Grant, Day's wife Ellie stole the show during the 2013 Masters. Harvey is incredibly gorgeous, and her striking beauty makes her an easy target for television cameras. The two have been married since 2009 and have a child together. Although they're a big couple in the golf world, they won't be in the spotlight as much as the rest of the couples on the list.

    Bubba Watson and Angie Watson

Bubba Watson is one of the biggest names in golf, and anyone associated with him is going to be recognized. Watson met his wife at the University of Georgia, while he was there to play golf and she was there playing basketball. Angie Watson's goal was to become a WNBA player, but her career was cut short when she dislocated her left kneecap and suffered a tear to her MCL. The two have made headlines for their adoption of a boy and a girl, but that's the extent of potential buzz for this couple.

    Patrick Reed and Justine Karain

The relationship between Patrick Reed and Justine Karain is a special one because Karain also served as Reed's caddy. It's not too often that a player's wife is carrying the bag all day instead of waiting on the 18th green for a kiss, so it makes this relationship unique. Reed is known for his "cocky" or "confident" attitude, depending on how you look at it. If Reed can keep his winning ways going and capture a major, Reed's demeanour will probably make them an even more recognizable couple on Tour.

5. Jack and Barbara Nicklaus

Jack Nicklaus is arguably the greatest golfer to ever live, and his wife of nearly 55 years is just as important.

Barbara Nicklaus was named the winner of the 2015 Bob Jones Award by the USGA. The award pays tribute to someone who demonstrates spirit, character and respect for the sport of golf. What makes this award so unique is that Jack won the same award in 1975.

The two are the definition of a power couple in terms of wealth, because Jack is worth an estimated $280 million.

The couple are also huge supporters of the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation, which recently made a $60 million pledge to the Miami Children's Health System.

Continuing to make headlines for all the right reasons, the two have been great ambassadors for the game of golf.

4. Phil and Amy Mickelson

Whenever there is a picture of Phil Mickelson, his wife Amy is usually close by.

The two are inseparable, and the pictures of him kissing her with his young kids after a victory are endless. For the best golfers in the world, there usually seems to be a breakup at some point, but not for "Lefty."

He has been by Amy's side for years, through the ups and downs. Amy's battle with breast cancer has been a struggle, but he's always been supportive as she fought the deadly disease.

Next to Tiger Woods, Mickelson is the best-known professional golfer of the past 20 years, and his wife has been there every step of the way.

With an estimated net worth of $256 million, the couple are two of the most recognized people in golf and will continue to be for a very long time.

3. Jordan Spieth and Annie Verret

Jordan Spieth is living the dream right now.

At 21 years old, he's already won the Masters and has a beautiful girlfriend. After winning the green jacket, he went straight to her for a celebratory kiss and since then, the world has been calling these two the "it" couple.

According to the Daily MailSpieth recently purchased a $2.3 million mansion, where he and his girlfriend could be potentially living.

Annie Verret and Spieth started dating in high school and were able to keep a long-distance relationship alive through college. Verret is a very smart woman, earning a 4.0 GPA while graduating with a business major at Texas Tech.

It's unclear what the future holds for these two, but maybe they'll end up being the next Jack and Barbara Nicklaus.

2. Rickie Fowler and Alexis Randock

After recently winning the biggest tournament of his career, Rickie Fowler has been all over the news.

Not only has he been in the headlines, but his girlfriend has been right there beside him. Fowler's model girlfriend, Alexis Randock, has been all over social media for the past week.

After Fowler won The Players Championship, Randock captivated audiences everywhere by having a movie-esque make-out scene immediately following. With roughly 48,400 Instagram followers, Randock has been making a name for herself, and the couple's popularity is growing everyday.

Although they have been dating for less than a year, Fowler and Randock are at the top of everybody's golf couples lists, and for good measure.

Getting a haircut and shaving his moustache is really paying off for Fowler.

1. Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky

Dustin Johnson and Paulina Gretzky are a match made in heaven—for the public.

Johnson's made noise for his leave of absence, while Gretzky is the daughter of the greatest hockey player to ever live.

It doesn't get more fairy-tale than that.

Johnson's 2014 was quite the wild ride. Allegations came out from Golf.com (h/t Deadspin) that he had tested positive for cocaine twice and for marijuana once. Not only that, but he was being accused of sleeping around with "at least one" PGA Tour player's wife.

At the time of the allegations, Johnson's soon-to-be wife was pregnant, so it was time to for him to smarten up.

Gretzky was incredibly popular before she met Johnson, based on her last name and her modelling career. Johnson was also one of the best golfers in the world, almost winning a few major championships.

Based on Gretzky's family and Johnson's rock-and-roll lifestyle, these two are deserving of golf's top power couple award.
