The batsman—who made an astonishing unbeaten 355 for Surrey this week—was poised to fly out to India to join the Sunrisers Hyderabad team for the latter stages of the competition.
But according to Nick Hoult of the Daily Telegraph, an Achilles injury suffered during that amazing innings will prevent him from competing:
Pietersen will feel as though things couldn’t possibly get any worse for him at the moment, and from the Sunrisers' perspective, not having the 34-year-old in their squad for the final knocking of the campaign will be a major blow.
The cricketing world is watching keenly to see what KP's next move is going to be after having his international hopes scuppered. But it seems as though we’ll have to hang on a little longer to find out what this wonderful player plans next for distinguished career.
