Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool: Speed Demons

Just because you’ve slipped behind in the stolen base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up.  Here are some reasonably-available SB threats.

Jason Kendall, C, Milwaukee Brewers – Kendall went nuts last week with 4 SBs while hitting .333 (5 for 15) with 5 runs and 1 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .247 with 6 SBs, 41 runs, 1 HR, and 33 RBI.  He’s owned in five percent of Yahoo! Plus, two percent of Yahoo! Public, 1.4% of ESPN, and eleven percent of CBS leagues.

Scott Podsednik, OF, Chicago White Sox – Pods had 3 SBs last week while hitting .292 (7 for 24) with 2 runs, 1 HR and 3 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .294 with 24 SBs, 61 runs, 5 HRs, and 41 RBI.  He’s owned in 51 percent of Yahoo! Plus, 24 percent of Yahoo! Public, 18.8 percent of ESPN, and 39 percent of CBS leagues.

Drew Stubbs, OF, Cincinnati Reds – Stubbs had 3 SBs last week while hitting .293 (12 for 41) with 7 runs, 2 HRs and 5 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .246 with 3 SBs, 9 runs, 3 HRs and 6 RBI in 61 at-bats.  He’s owned in three percent of Yahoo! Plus, one percent of Yahoo! Public, 0.3 percent of ESPN, and four percent of CBS leagues.

Julio Borbon, OF, Texas Rangers – Borbon had 3 SBs last week, and not all in one game this time, while hitting .235 (4 for 17) with 2 runs and 1 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .370 with 11 SBs, 12 runs, 1 HR and 8 RBI.  He’s owned in 30 percent of Yahoo! Plus, nine percent of Yahoo! Public, 8.1 percent of ESPN, and 25 percent of CBS leagues.  He doesn’t start against lefties so temper your expectations a bit.

Everth Cabrera, SS, San Diego Padres - Everth had 2 SBs last week while hitting .267 (8 for 30) with 5 runs and 3 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .271 with 20 SBs, 42 runs, 2 HRs, and 26 RBI.  He’s owned in 30 percent of Yahoo! Plus, eight percent of Yahoo! Public, 3.9 percent of ESPN, and 33 percent of CBS leagues.

Angel Pagan, OF, New York Mets - Pagan had 2 SBs last week while hitting .308 (8 for 26) with 5 runs, 1 HR and 1 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .294 with 12 SBs, 38 Runs, 6 HRs and 26 RBI.  He’s owned in 24 percent of Yahoo! Plus, eight percent of Yahoo! Public, 3.5 percent of ESPN, and 14 percent of CBS leagues.

Adam Kennedy, 2B/3B/OF, Oakland A’s - Kennedy had 2 SBs last week while hitting .188 (6 for 32) with 2 runs and 3 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .274 with 18 SBs, 45 runs, 10 HRs and 49 RBI.  He’s owned in 45 percent of Yahoo! Plus, 21 percent of Yahoo! Public, 14 percent of ESPN, and 43 percent of CBS leagues.
