Martin Odegaard in 'Absolutely Sublime' Performance for Real Madrid Castilla
Martin Odegaard has received some negative headlines since joining Real Madrid earlier this year.
However, the tide appears to be turning for the Norwegian wunderkind.
Playing in the No. 10 position, Odegaard played a starring role for Real Madrid's Castilla side on Sunday as they drew 1-1 with Guadalajara in Segunda B (Spain's third tier).

That result meant that Castilla failed to make it into the play-offs for Spanish football's second tier.
However, writing in Marca, journalist Santiago Segurola hailed the 16-year-old's performance, calling it "absolutely sublime."
He wrote:
"There was not a single move in which the youngster failed to demonstrate his class. Even when he made mistakes, it was clear that we were watching a different kind of player. Nothing he did was trivial. He gave short passes because that was what the situation required. He threaded an infinity of passes through the lines. He displayed a surprising range of skills, disconcerting Guadalajara's experienced defenders and midfielders, who never came close to stopping him.
Odegaard's game was textbook. He was the best player in his team by a long shot and the one who went to the greatest lengths to try to win the game. Real Madrid got it right in this respect as well. The player set an example with his conduct. He called for the ball constantly, with the conviction of a leader
"
Segurola said that Odegaard needs to be playing at a higher level next season. He suggested another season in Segunda B would be "akin to a jail sentence."
Whether that means full-time promotion to Real's first team or a loan move somewhere else remains to be seen.
