Brittney Griner, Glory Johnson Wedding: Attendees, Photos, Location, Details
Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner and Tulsa Shock forward Glory Johnson wed Saturday in Phoenix.
According to People's Jeff Truesdell, roughly 75 guests attended the ceremony, which was held at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. Griner wore a beige suit, while Johnson was clad in a champagne gown she had picked out on an episode of Say Yes to the Dress.
Johnson posted a few photos from the event on Instagram.
Truesdell reported that "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran was Johnson and Griner's first song together. After the wedding, the couple moved their reception to Falls Terrace, another part of the resort, enjoying a formal dinner followed by a tiered white and red velvet cake.
Griner and Johnson became engaged last August. Griner shared a photo of her proposal.
"When you have your personal life in check, it makes everything else better," she said at the time, per USA Today's Scott Gleeson. "I will say this: I'm definitely happy, and it was a big point in my life. When you find the one, you really know. I just knew. I was more nervous (proposing) than anything in my whole life. I almost passed out."
Their relationship certainly makes for an interesting dynamic on the court with Griner's and Johnson's respective teams in the same conference.
"She's a big supporter of me, and, yes, I'm able to stay focused," Griner said of her now-wife as the Mercury were on their way to a WNBA title.
The first game between the Shock and Mercury in 2015 is scheduled for July 2, and the two teams will meet another four times in the regular season.
