Sunil Narine Grabs Four Wickets, Winning Run
West Indies spinner Sunil Narine showed flashes of his incredible talent on Saturday, grabbing four wickets while giving up just 19 runs against Kings XI Punjab and scoring the winning run for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Narine only recently returned to the pitch after questions surfaced surrounding his actions, as reported by the Press Trust of India (via NDTV.com), but he looked every bit the pivotal starter Kolkata will be counting on during the play-offs.
Seeing him with the ball in hand, ESPN Cricinfo had but one thing to say once he started going to town on Punjab's batsmen:
"Sunil Narine is back: 4-0-19-4 http://t.co/uDc0TRXg4m #IPL2015 #KKRvKXIP
— ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) May 9, 2015"
His excellent performance with the ball on Saturday almost felt like redemption, but Narine wasn't done yet. Sure, his team-mates set the stage so all he had to do was score a single run from the final delivery, but the Windies legend came through under pressure.
The IPL better be warned: Narine is back.
Moises Henriques Keeps Sunrisers' Play-Off Hopes Alive
Moises Henriques' 74 runs from 46 balls would have been an impressive performance regardless of the situation, but if you know Hyderabad's second-leading run scorer was Eoin Morgan with just 22 from 25, you begin to understand how pivotal the Portuguese-born Australian was in setting a target of 163.
Delhi Daredevils were magnificent with the ball―four bowlers finished single-digit economies―but the squad simply had no answers for Henriques, who gave his bowlers the cushion they needed to hold off Delhi's furious chase.
As a result, Sunrisers are still very much alive in the play-off race, while Delhi have been mathematically eliminated. Not a bad day's work from Henriques.
