NFL Draft 2015: Complete Results and Teams with Top Grades

Brian MaziqueMay 7, 2015

Few teams had a better draft than the New York Jets. Gang Green got a third-round talent at quarterback in the Baylor Bears' Bryce Petty. They also took what some experts believed was one of the three best players in the draft at No. 6.

The USC Trojans' Leonard Williams could be a major difference-maker in the trenches for the Jets. ESPN.com had Williams listed as the second-ranked prospect overall with a 96 rating. Here's the analysis on Williams:

"

Williams is strictly a value pick here, he's our top-rated defensive prospect. He adds immediate depth as a 5-technique behind Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson, who has been on the trading block. Williams also has the versatility to line up in multiple spots along the defensive line, giving first-year head coach Todd Bowles the flexibility to jump into a four-man front when necessary.

Add in speedy Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Devin Smith, and the Jets had their best draft in years.

The Jets are one of three teams I'd give an A to for their picks. Here's a look at every selection from each team in the draft.

Other Teams With Grade-A Drafts

Chicago Bears

Some could argue that the Chicago Bears should have addressed their defense with the No. 7 pick, but it's hard to be upset with the selection of West Virginia Mountaineers receiver Kevin White.

Pairing him with Alshon Jeffery gives the Bears one of the most athletic and dynamic receiving corps in the NFL. Chicago followed that up with the selection of Florida State Seminoles nose tackle Eddie Goldman.

Both Goldman and White were ranked in the top 26 by ESPN.com. The only other team to walk away from the draft with two players rated that high was the Cleveland Browns. However, the Browns got both of their guys in the first round. Chicago got great value drafting Goldman with the 39th pick.

You also have to like the Hroniss Grasu pick. The Bears needed a center with the departure of Roberto Garza. They nabbed a player who can start as a rookie. He'll join a solid offensive line that has a nice mix of young players and veterans.

It's rare that a team is able to draft three players who will start in their rookie seasons.

Cleveland Browns

By tabbing versatile offensive lineman Cameron Erving and nose tackle Danny Shelton, the Cleveland Browns made it clear they wanted to improve play at the line of scrimmage. Cleveland was dead last against the run in 2014. The team hopes Shelton can instantly upgrade the run defense.

It's unclear where Erving will ultimately play on the offensive line. He played nearly every position on the line for the Seminoles, but he seems more like a fit at center or guard in the NFL.

The Utah Utes' Nate Orchard was drafted to help provide a jolt to the Browns' poor pass rush. He had 18.5 sacks in 2014 with 21 tackles for loss. The Browns are hoping he can be an impact player off the edge.

In the seventh round, Cleveland got what could be the biggest steal in the draft. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu is a first-round talent who slipped because of an injured knee. If he makes a full recovery, he could be one of the best cover cornerbacks. That type of value in the seventh round could be the icing on the cake for Cleveland this offseason.
