LSU's Offensive Line Reveiw 2009

Jaush WilliamsAug 31, 2009

I got to thinking today while watching a episode of College Football Live. I realized that there was alot of talk about the Defense and the Offensive weapons. So I asked myself why nobody has really touched on the area that in my opinion will be the secert to the Tigers success. In simple terms the Offensive Line. Know most people have heard about Ciron Black but I would like to take a look at the other four Lineman.

We will start with my personal favorite player on the team Lyle Hitt. Lyle is probably going to be the starting Right Gaurd. Started all 13 games at right guard for the Tigers, Played a total of 852 snaps and finished season with 45 knockdown blocks. Reliable and very powerful I would look for him to maybe sneak into the race for the Outland Award which is given to the Nations best interior lineman.

Then we have a competion at Center. My pick for the postion is T-Bob Hebert. At 6'3 and 285 lbs. T-Bob is both big, fast, and strong. I dont know alot about him, but I am looking forward to seeing him play on Saturday September 5th 2009. Brett Helems left some pretty big shoes to fill and I think that T-bob will fill the void left in the middle of or line for the nexted 2-3 years.

The other gaurd that we will probably see on openong day will Josh Dworaczyk. From what I have read about Dworaczyk he is a soild replacement for Herman Johnson. I haven't really been able to come across much reading matraels on Dworaczyk but I can gaurenty that he will not disappoint on Saturdays.

Rounding off the other Tackle postion he have in my opinion Joseph barksdale. He started all 13 games last year and was a real reliable player for the Tigers. At 6'5 and 315 lbs Barksdale is a force to be reckoned with on the left side of the Tigers offensive line. Also Barksdale is huge in the gym and from reports that I have read he has got stronger and with his long arms I look for him to either lead of be in  the running for most pancake blocks this season.

Add in Ciron Black and you definaly have a wall of power and talent of 1400+ lbs that will open up holes for running backs like Charles Scott and Keiland Williams this year. They will also provide excellent pass blocking for Jordan Jefferson. These are the unsung heros of the LSU offense and in a game where the game is won or lost in the trenches I salute the Offensive Lineman of the 2009 LSU football team.
