Finalized 2010 IndyCar Schedule Breaks Season Into Four Segments
The Indy Racing League (IRL) recently announced their finalized schedule for 2010, and it's broken into four distinct parts emphasizing road courses and oval tracks.
The first four races of the season (Brazil, St. Petersburg, FL, Alabama, and Long Beach) take place on closed-track or closed-street road courses, followed by four races (Kansas, Indy, Texas, and Iowa) on oval tracks. It's back to the road courses for five straight races (Watkins Glen, Toronto, Edmonton, Mid-Ohio, and Infineon) before ending the season with four oval track races (Chicagoland, Kentucky, Twin Ring Motegi in Japan, and Homestead-Miami).
The 2010 schedule consists of nine road course races and eight ovals, which is somewhat amusing since the IRL was formed because former sanctioning body CART placed too much emphasis on road course racing.
