Notre Dame Football Recruiting Offers of the Week

Mike MonacoMay 3, 2015

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The NFL draft has come and gone, and it’s time to turn our attention back to the next cycle of potential Notre Dame football players.

Each week we’ll be keeping tabs on the new scholarship offers sent out by the Notre Dame coaches, tracking the recruiting process as the Irish focus their attention toward the classes of 2016, 2017 and maybe even 2018.

Kenney Lyke

Class of 2016 safety Kenney Lyke reported a Notre Dame offer Sunday night.

The 6’2”, 182-pounder hails from Palatine, Ill., and is slotted as the No. 35 safety and No. 560 overall prospect in the country. Lyke also holds offers from Maryland, Rutgers, Baylor, Penn State, Iowa and Michigan State, among others. Lyke visited Ohio State and Michigan State in April and attended Notre Dame’s junior day in March.

On April 26, Lyke named his top five, which featured Michigan State, Ohio State, Baylor, Oregon and TCU, in no order. Following the Irish offer, Lyke told Irish247’s Tom Loy he will “definitely” be releasing a new list of top schools.

“It’s big, man. It’s big,” Lyke told Loy. “Change some things around. I am going to change some things up. … I will narrow it down in June after I take all of my visits.”

Donovan Peoples-Jones

Donovan Peoples-Jones

Class of 2017 wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones hauled in an offer from Notre Dame on Tuesday.

The 5-star Detroit native checks in as the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 12 overall player in the class. The 6’2”, 183-pounder’s growing offer list includes Alabama, USC, Michigan and LSU. Peoples-Jones recently made a pair of April visits to Michigan State, and he’s scheduled to stop by Florida and USC in June.

“Of course because like all the others, USC and Alabama, Notre Dame has that reputation to produce great athletes,” Peoples-Jones told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong. “They stress academics and that’s really important to me.”

Peoples-Jones took an unofficial visit to campus in early September for Notre Dame’s matchup with Michigan.

“I enjoyed my experience and look forward to getting back down there again,” Peoples-Jones told Wiltfong.

Marcus Williamson

Just 11 days after class of 2017 cornerback Marcus Williamson committed to Ohio State, Notre Dame extended an offer to the Westerville, Ohio, product.

At 5’10”, 178 pounds, Williamson is pegged as the No. 5 cornerback and No. 88 player in the nation. His April visit to Ohio State ended with a verbal commitment.

Jedrick Wills

Class of 2017 offensive tackle Jedrick Wills reeled in a Notre Dame offer Thursday.

A 6’5”, 300-pounder from Lexington, Ky., Wills is the No. 18 tackle and No. 117 overall prospect. Wills also grabbed offers from Florida State and Michigan State earlier in the week.

Notre Dame’s lone commitment in the class of 2017 is offensive lineman Dillan Gibbons.
