Kenny Williams to North Carolina: Tar Heels Land 4-Star SG Prospect

Adam WellsMay 2, 2015

Roy Williams has never had problems recruiting talent to the University of North Carolina. His 2015 class just got a lot stronger with 4-star guard Kenny Williams committing to the Tar Heels.

Williams, who plays high school ball at Lloyd C. Bird High School, announced his decision on Twitter:

Per 247Sports, Williams is the 29th-ranked shooting guard in this year's recruiting class and 89th-best player overall. He's listed at 6'2", 165 pounds and had 15 offers, including from Virginia, which ranked as the top spot to land him in the Crystal Ball projections.

Instead, Williams will be donning Carolina blue for the foreseeable future. Scouting reports tend to tout the Virginia native as a great shooter, though Corey Evans of NY2LA Sports thinks he's capable of doing more than that:

North Carolina has a lot of work to do catching up to archrival Duke in the national landscape. The Blue Devils are coming off of their second championship since 2010 and have at least a hard commitment from four players rated as 5-star prospects coming in for next season.

The addition of Williams provides a strong start for the Tar Heels in 2015 recruiting. They have two hard commitments, per 247Sports, with the newest one being a potential building block for Coach Williams.
