The 2015 NFL draft will reach its inevitable conclusion this afternoon as the fourth through seventh rounds close out the event.

Here's how things have unfolded after the first 99 picks.

Coverage for Day 3 will begin at 12 p.m. ET with both ESPN and the NFL Network carrying the broadcast. Fans can also live stream the event on NFL.com and Watch ESPN.

Of course, everybody loves to bring up the fact that Tom Brady was a sixth-round pick in the 2000 NFL draft. Six quarterbacks came off the board before the future four-time Super Bowl champion.

To say that Brady is an exception to the rule is an understatement, though. Yes, it's possible to catch lightning in a bottle, but teams are spending more and more time in the scouting process, lessening the chance that a diamond in the rough slips too late in the draft.

With that said, look no further than the Seattle Seahawks to get an idea of how a winning franchise maximizes its picks on Day 3. Richard Sherman and Byron Maxwell were fifth- and sixth-rounders, respectively, in 2011. The year before that the Seahawks found Kam Chancellor in the fifth. Those three players were all instrumental in creating Seattle's "Legion of Boom" secondary.

ESPN's Trey Wingo highlighted how Rounds 4-7 provide so much depth for teams throughout the league:

Among the notable players still on the board heading into today are La'el Collins, T.J. Clemmings, Michael Bennett, Jay Ajayi, Rashad Greene, Stefon Diggs, Brett Hundley and Daryl Williams.

For Clemmings and Bennett, Day 3 represents a significant downgrade from where they were generally projected to land.

The MMQB's Peter King is particularly surprised to see Clemmings' name still on the board:

Yahoo Sports' Eric Edholm wonders whether the offensive tackle's talents were inflated by writers and fans on social media:

Meanwhile, Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch felt Bennett dropping past the second round was cause for shock:

Hundley still being available is somewhat less bewildering. Before the draft, Bleacher Report's Mike Tanier made a strong case that the UCLA Bruins signal-caller could be in for trouble once he arrives in the NFL:

"

Like Jameis Winston's interception totals, Hundley's sack rates should not be shrugged off as meaningless college stats. An NFL executive once told me that he considers a high sack rate a red flag for a quarterback prospect. It signifies multiple problems, from pocket indecision to a slow delivery. The fact that the quarterback has already taken a collegiate pounding is one more reason to look away.

UCLA's loss to Utah illustrates the Hundley dilemma. Hundley endured 10 sacks in the 30-28 loss in early October. His pass protection was horrendous for most of the game, but Hundley compounded the problem by hanging in the pocket instead of either stepping up or checking down.

"

B/R's Rivers McCown still felt that Hundley would have made for a better selection than Sean Mannion:

Collins has had a steeper decline than anybody. He's gone from a potential first-rounder to possibly not getting drafted at all. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier in the week that authorities in Baton Rouge, Louisiana wanted to question Collins as part of a murder investigation, thus torpedoing Collins' draft stock.

After the LSU Tigers offensive tackle was denied an opportunity to enter the supplemental draft, he's apparently looking toward the 2016 draft instead, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport (via NFL.com's Marc Sessler). Rapoport then added that Collins might simply become a free agent rather than entering next year's draft pool:

Given all of the circumstances, it seems highly unlikely that anybody will take Collins later today. But all it takes is one out of 32 teams to determine that the benefits of drafting a first-round-caliber offensive tackle on Day 3 outweigh all of the risk that comes with Collins.

Whether Collins is drafted and where the other aforementioned college stars wind up will be among the biggest stories to follow on Day 3.
