Kentucky Derby Favorite 2015: American Pharoah Betting Odds
The Bob Baffert-trained American Pharoah remains the betting favorite for the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby, sitting at odds of 13-5 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark as of Friday night.
In early wagering at Churchill Downs, the colt was also the favorite. With $119,000 bet into the parimutuel pool, American Pharoah had $28,077 wagered on him, making him the 5-2 favorite, the same price as his morning line.
Baffert is seeking to win his fourth Kentucky Derby. The Hall of Fame trainer has not won the Run for the Roses since War Emblem took the field gate to wire in 2002.

Last week it was learned that the colt is wearing a plate to protect the sole of his left front foot and will be wearing the plate on Saturday.
“I was going to take it off to run him, but he’s had it there so long I don’t want to change,” Baffert said from California to DRF.com's Jay Privman. “He’s traveling so well with it.”
American Pharoah—who will break from the No. 17 post with last year’s winning Kentucky Derby rider, Victor Espinoza, aboard—comes to Louisville riding a four-race winning streak.
The colt won the Eclipse Award for top juvenile after winning the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and FrontRunner. The colt was set to be the morning-line favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile but a foot bruise knocked him out just days before the race.
He made his three-year-old debut in the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park on March 14 and rolled to a 6 ¼-length victory despite being sidelined for nearly six months. His early Kentucky Derby odds at that point went from 8-1 to 9-2.
His final prep came in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby on April 11 where again he toyed with his competition, drawing away to win by eight widening lengths as the heavy favorite. Shortly after the win, his future price dipped as low as 2-1.
The son of 2009 Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof the Nile, the colt is coming into Louisville in the sharpest form of his career, and he will be the deserving betting favorite.
