IPL 2015: Top 10 Batsmen of Week 4 of Indian Premier League

The fourth week of the Indian Premier League has come to an end, with a number of batsmen having impressed at the crease during this week’s games.

From India and from other countries, they have looked very effective and given opposing bowlers plenty to think about.

Read on for the top 10 batsmen from the fourth week of the IPL.

All stats, courtesy of ESPNCricinfo, reflect games from April 25 to May 1.

10. Shikhar Dhawan (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Domestic star opener Shikhar Dhawan looked in decent touch, especially in his first game of the week for Sunrisers Hyderabad against the Mumbai Indians.

He made 42 in Hyderabad’s defeat, by far their highest score of the game and an indication of his considerable talents.

9. Shreyas Iyer (Delhi Daredevils)

Young Indian opener Shreyas Iyer continues to enjoy a strong IPL 2015 with the Delhi Daredevils.

This week, he recovered from a duck against Royal Challengers Bangalore to notch 54 against Kings XI Punjab, a continuation of last week’s strong form.

8. AB De Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

South African AB de Villiers wasted little time for Royal Challengers Bangalore, having not been required to bat against the Delhi Daredevils.

In their next game against the Rajasthan Royals, De Villiers hit 57 and made sure this was a successful week for him personally.

7. Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Aggressive West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell has enjoyed another good week in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The highlight was his unbeaten 55 against the Chennai Super Kings, a game in which he also took two wickets with the ball.

6. David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Australian David Warner continues to be virtually unstoppable at the top of the order for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The opener hit another 50 against Kings XI Punjab and remains one of the tournament’s top run scorers this year.

5. Chris Gayle (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Chris Gayle’s brand of stroke-making continues to impress for Royal Challengers Bangalore, and he was in the runs again this week.

His unbeaten 62 came against the Delhi Daredevils and came from just 40 balls as he made batting look so easy once again.

4. Mayank Agarwal (Delhi Daredevils)

Opener Mayank Agarwal has looked strong in a young tandem at the top of the Delhi Daredevils order with Shreyas Iyer.

His unbeaten 52 helped Delhi win easily over Kings XI Punjab and gave a great indication of his abilities with the bat.

3. Lendl Simmons (Mumbai Indians)

Lendl Simmons continues to be very consistent in the opening positions for Mumbai Indians, as he twice passed 30 last week.

His best of 51 came against Sunrisers Hyderabad, while he followed that up with 38 against the Rajasthan Royals to cap a strong few days.

2. Brendon McCullum (Chennai Super Kings)

Brendon McCullum continues to be a tough proposition at the top of the order for Chennai Super Kings with his aggression.

The opener once again looked in good form as he reached double figures three times, the first being 66 against Kings XI Punjab.

1. Robin Uthappa (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Robin Uthappa has enjoyed a very successful week at the top of the order for Kolkata Knight Riders, even as he juggles the responsibilities of keeping wicket.

He began the week with 39 against Chennai, then did even better with 80 not out against the same opponents to complete a very strong few days.
