Matt FitzgeraldApr 30, 2015

The Chicago Bears made a big splash in the 2015 NFL draft on Thursday, pleasing the home crowd at Auditorium Theatre and numerous other fans by selecting former West Virginia star receiver Kevin White seventh overall.

White was the second wideout off the board behind Alabama's Amari Cooper but was widely viewed as close competition to Cooper to be the first pass-catcher chosen in the opening round.

Twitter brought plenty of reaction to White's selection. Gregg Doyel of The Indianapolis Star likes White more than any other 2015 prospect:

Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network alluded to the issues Chicago might have on the other side of the ball, the rest of its draft pending:

Perhaps the Bears have other holes to fill yet, but White is a playmaker they couldn't pass on. After losing Brandon Marshall in the offseason, it was necessary to give Cutler another friendly target on the outside to pair opposite Alshon Jeffery.

White hauled in 109 receptions for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns this past season. Any concerns about White's speed were dismissed when he ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The 6'3", 215-pound dynamo figures to make an instant splash in the Windy City. Most will see White as a great choice for the Bears and a nice start to Pace's first draft.
