White Named Florida Head Coach
Thursday, May 7
Former Louisiana Tech head coach Michael White has been named the new coach of the Florida Gators, the school confirmed Thursday:
ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported that Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley never spoke with Dayton coach Archie Miller or Xavier's Chris Mack about the job. According to Goodman, White was pegged for the job from the start of the search.
On April 30, Brockway reported there were three candidates on the school's radar prior to White's hiring:
White's resume doesn't measure up to Donovan's right now, but few coaches have enjoyed that type of success. In four seasons as the head coach at Louisiana Tech, White amassed a 101-40 record and won three consecutive regular-season conference titles.
Florida is a desirable position due to everything Donovan has accomplished with the program over the past decade, though, and White will look to build on that success for the foreseeable future.
