UNLV Football Unveils New Helmets with Iconic Las Vegas Logo
You know what they say: What happens in Vegas…is actually pretty cool when it comes to collegiate football uniforms.
In 2015-16, the Rebels of UNLV will be donning a new pair of red and silver helmets that feature the city's famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign on the back.
"Las Vegas is so important to our university and our football program wants to be a big part of the Las Vegas community," head coach Tony Sanchez said in a statement.
These are uncharted waters for the Rebels. Here's a tidbit from the UNLV website:
"This season will mark the first time in history that the team will wear more than one color of helmet and the first time the Rebels will pull on a red helmet since the 1981 campaign. In fact, all of UNLV's helmet designs were red from 1973-1981 but silver has been the lone base color for the last 33 years.
"
In addition to the helmets, the Rebels will be sporting three sets of revamped uniforms next season (white, red and black). The white unis will have "Las Vegas" on the pants, while the Stardust symbol will be on the red and black ones.
Take a gander at the threads for yourself:
