Cleveland Cavaliers Need to Rebuild Around LeBron James
The Eastern Conference Finals are set. Boston hosted Cleveland in a well-fought battle, but the home team prevailed, maintaing their undefeated record at home in the playoffs this year. Even with the heroics of LeBron, the Cavs still couldn't take the game.
So exactly what does LeBron have to do to win the series? He dropped 45, but that wasn't enough. So does he need to put up 50? Maybe 60?
No. Cleveland needs a new team for LeBron to work with.
Wally went 0-3 from the field, not even scoring in game seven, and Wallace didn't even grab many boards. They should have kept Gooden—he was more consistent. Delonte West is the only player that's been solid throughout the playoffs this year.
As much as it seems impossible, Cleveland's grasp on LeBron is slipping. How much longer will a superstar go home a loser and not change anything? They need to make some great moves in the offseason. There are a lot of great players that will become free agents—Shawn Marion, Elton Brand, Jermaine O'Neal, and Antawn Jamison.
I'd like to see Shawn and Jermaine or Shawn and Elton. But they definitely need to acquire Marion. He fills up the stats in almost every category. Either way LeBron needs a partner in crime. This is how I want the starting line up to look like next year...
C. Zydrunas Ilgauskas
F. Elton Brand
F. Shawn Marion
G. LeBron James
G. Delonte West
Sixth man: Daniel Gibson
That lineup looks to be a great contender in the poorly-performing Eastern Conference. Although it looks like this lineup is only a fantasy, it may actually work out. Even in the NBA commercial, they said "Where tomorrow happens." with a picture of LeBron in the background. He knows as well.
Do you really believe he will willingly end his career without having at least one ring on his finger for the people of Cleveland? If so, then you're out of your mind.
They better figure something out if they want LeBron to come back and stay comfortable—or else he might pull a Kobe before the beginning of the season.
